Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Student Association?

The Student Association is the main interface between the MBA student body and the faculty and administration. The goal of the SA is to cater to the needs of the student body in order to make the HBS experience as rewarding and enjoyable as possible. This includes planning of social events, acting on student feedback and, through the SA Office, providing products and services to the students (e.g. yearbook, airport shuttle service, and the HBS Survival Guide). All members of the MBA student body are also members of the Student Association.

Who is part of the Student Association?

The Student Association is comprised elected Senators from each section, the Executive Committee which includes the two elected Co-Presidents, a CFO, and COO. The SA also includes other representatives of section leadership included representatives for the section presidents, technology reps, L&V reps, orientation reps, education reps, and athletic reps. In addition there are typically 5 social chairs chosen by the SA Exec that organize all of the SA-sponsored social events.

What does the Student Association do for me?

The SA is the outlet for the student body to voice and concerns or recommendations related to student life at HBS. This includes concerns related to housing, academics, food services, classroom conditions, major administrative decisions. The SA also organizes many events on campus including orientation, class day, TGIFs, Hollidazzle, Newport Ball, etc.

What does the Student Association do with my dues?

Student dues are the critical funding needed for the SA to operate. The dues are used to fund campus-wide social events such as Holidazzle, Newport Ball, and TGIFs. While Holidazzle and Newport Ball still require ticket sales, the student dues contribute greatly to subsidizing the cost of each ticket. For more information regarding the breakdown of student dues please visit the SA Finance Page.
